To reach Elephanta Caves, you need to take a ferry from Mumbai's Gateway of India, which is a famous landmark and a popular tourist attraction. The Gateway of India is located in the Colaba area of Mumbai, and you can reach it by taxi, bus, or train from various parts of the city.

The ferry service to Elephanta Island operates from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on all days except Monday, when the caves are closed. The ferry charges around Rs. 150 for a two-way trip. 

Once you reach Elephanta Island, you have to walk for about a kilometer from the jetty to the base of the western hill, where the main cave temple is located. Take a toy train for Rs. 5 that runs along the pier.

The cave temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has several rock-cut sculptures and carvings depicting various aspects of his life and legends. The most impressive sculpture is the Trimurti, which shows three faces of Shiva as the creator, preserver, and destroyer of the universe.

Cave temple at your own pace and admire the beauty and craftsmanship of the ancient artists. You can also visit the other caves on the island, which are smaller and less ornate than the main one. There are also some shops and stalls on the island that sell snacks, souvenirs, and religious items.

Return to Mumbai by taking a ferry from Elephanta Island between 12:00 pm and 5:30 pm. The last ferry leaves at 5:30 pm, so make sure you do not miss it.
